Education Specilaist in Teacher Leadership-University of Montevallo-2012

This year begins my 16th year of teaching in public education.  I taught 2 years in Bibb County and 14 years in Chilton County.  I have taught grades 3-8 as either a general education teacher, gifted specialist, and/or special education teacher.

I graduated from Chilton County High School in 1998 with an advanced diploma.  While in high school, I was a member of "The Pride of Chilton County" band and played both trumpet and baritone.  I was section leader for 2 years and president of the band my senior year.  After high school, I attended Wallace Community College and the University of Montevallo, where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education in December 2003.  I then went on to Grand Canyon University to earn a Master of Education in special education degree and returned to the University of Montevallo to earn an Educational Specialist degree in Teacher Leadership.  I  taught two years at Randolph Elementary in Bibb Co. and then came to JMS/JIS in 2006 and been here ever since.  I have taught general education (grades 3-6) and special education (inclusion grades 6, 7, & 8; as well as, 5th and 6th grade gifted).
